There and Back
If you are near Vallejo, California, and you are looking for a short hike, this is the place to go. Though this park was the site of one of the Zodiac Killer murders in 1969, the area is a great open-space option for short hikes and workouts close to the city. The park also features one of Vallejo's hidden attractions: a family of one to two dozen peacocks call the park home. Regardless of its history, the hike in this park is worth checking out. Starting at the trailhead, you will walk up a few sets of switchbacks. Once you reach the top, climb on the rock ridge for a nice view, then turn northwest and parallel the road for the next mile. You will reach a trail marker where you can take a right up the hill. This spot can be a bit steep, but once you reach the top, you will be presented with some nice views of Sonoma, Marin, and the wetlands along Route 37.
