Barney Hot Springs is a small spot we came across while four wheeling in the Lost River and Lemhi mountain ranges. It is situated right in the middle of the Little Lost River Valley between the two. It is close to nothing and really not worth a visit unless you are already there. You drive right up to the pool. The roads are very well graded but are dirt and gravel. I was able to easily get my truck and trailer there. The pond is about waist deep for most of the way. It's more of a warm spring than a hot spring. I would guess the water was about 85 degrees. The water is a blue murky color. You can not see the bottom. A weird fact is that years back someone planted tropical fish that are still alive and well in the spring. We did not see them but they were confirmed by several different sites. I've been to some pretty iffy hot springs before but this was still pretty meh. The water is kind of gross with lots of trash around which is sad. It was too hot for summer and too cold for colder temps. The best part was the great views of the mountains around the area. Bell Mountain was most prominent far off in the distance. Have fun soaking!
