W&OD Trail

One of best trails in the DC area, especially if you are looking for a flat, paved route. This is a rails to trails project so you definitely have long, flat, straight stretches. However, you also have shade, some views, and some great places along the route to grab some food and even a beer. For the most part, it is unadulterated and over the years they have managed to create a trail that nearly stays off the roads. There are a number of street crossings and some of them you need to be careful of as they are narrow, two-lane routes and you have to watch out for the drivers. Just get on the trail at any spot and enjoy!
