Alta Trail

The Alta Trail via Giant Forest is a scenic route that winds through Sequoia National Park, offering stunning views of the Sierra Nevada foothills and the Giant Forest. Starting the Alta Trail from Giant Forest (versus Wolverton) offers a unique experience. Visitors will find fewer crowds on the Alta Trail while still enjoying the rewards of seeing towering sequoias, diverse flora, and occasional wildlife sightings. The trail follows a steady ascent westward, making it a moderately challenging trek. There are various intersecting trails and opportunities to personalize the adventure. The trail ends at the junction of Alta Peak Trail and Alta Meadow Trail.
