Description
Beall connects Cow Creek with the top of Emerald Mountain. It can be used in both directions but is optimal as an ascent from Cow Creek. The lower reaches of Beall start in open and shrubby vegetation, transitioning to dark evergreen and mature aspen forest. The trail climbs steadily but not overly steep. Halfway through, the route crests a lower ridge and provides a short downhill. From here to the intersection with Ridge, Beall contours and climbs gradually to the top of Emerald Mountain. Near the summit there are fantastic sweeping views to the south and west. Stay left to continue on a loop of the backside trails, or turn right to explore the frontside of Emerald and Howelsen Hill trails.
