Sugar Tree Hollow Trail #407

Sugar Tree Hollow Trail is a loop that starts and ends at the Bald Rock Picnic Area on State Route 192. The day-use picnic area has parking for several cars and pit toilets available. From the picnic area, the trail leads down the side of a ridge and follows a small creek before intersecting with the Cane Creek Trail at its outermost point. From the intersection, the trail returns back up the other side of the ridge, following another small creek and ending back at the opposite end of the picnic area. The trail is a narrow singletrack that winds through the woods and alongside a couple different small drainage creeks, crossing one of them at the bottom of the hill. The trail is well-maintained, with clear signs that fallen trees have been cut and removed, as there are scars from where they've crossed the trail. As with any forest trail, there can be muddy/slippery spots or fallen trees and branches after rain. The trail is marked in places with white diamond metal blazes on trees, but it is generally very easy to tell where the trail lies, even in the fall when covered with leaves.
