There and Back
Follow driving directions to the parking symbol or Duke Power's Bad Creek Hydroelectric Station. The trail heads along a concrete drainage line before heading up (left) into the woods to the north. After 0.3 miles, the trail heads down toward a river crossing with a couple bridges across Whitewater River. On the north side of the river, the trail intersects with the Foothills Trail. Continue north (right), following blue blazes and good signage pointing toward Lower !Whitewater Falls. This section of the Foothills Trail presents a pretty steady climb. After just over a mile from the start, look for a connector trail on the right toward the wider Musterground Road section that continues east/southeast. Continue onto the Lower Whitewater Falls Trail as it bends around the western slopes of Whitewater Mountain. Finally, the trail descends somewhat steeply before culminating at the wooden viewing platform. After enjoying this beautiful reward, retrace your steps back to the starting point.
!Whitewater Falls is made up of six individual falls. This area is co-managed by the USFS.
