Description
This hike combines two popular attractions (Rocky Mouth Canyon Waterfall and Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge) via an enjoyable loop utilizing the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and Aqueduct + Hidden Valley Trail. The loop is just shy of 6 miles in length and, in addition to the two highlights, also features stunning views across the valley and to the Oquirrh Mountains. To begin, park in the small lot off Wasatch Boulevard and hike the short distance up to Rocky Mouth Canyon Waterfall. After enjoying this beautiful sight, head back down to the junction you just passed and turn left. You'll cross over Rocky Mouth Stream then gently switchback up the hillside. You're now on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, and will follow it all the way to the suspension bridge. The hiking is enjoyable and the views are fantastic along this stretch. You'll know when you reach the suspension bridge. This massive bridge spans some 185 feet across Bear Canyon and is quite the sight. For the best view, hike the short Bear Canyon Loop that climbs above offering a fantastic view down upon the bridge. The bridge is the far end of this loop. Head down to the Aqueduct Trail and turn right. Follow this wide and easy pathway until it turns into the Hidden Valley Trail. Now follow this path until you pass through Hidden Valley Park, then climb slightly back up to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. You're back on familiar tread now. Follow this path until you are back at the Rocky Mouth Canyon Trailhead where you began the hike.
