Round Valley Draw

Round Valley Draw offers a section of fantastic narrows that can easily be explored via a short day hike. The trip can be extended down into scenic Hackberry Canyon if desired.To begin, park at the small area where you'll find a trail register. After signing in, make your way down the relatively unexciting wash to the start of the narrows.To get into the narrows you'll have to negotiate two drop ins. The first drop is about 7 feet and should be easy for most to scramble down. Make sure you can climb back up this however, as the second drop is hidden and may be a turnaround point for some.This second drop is closer to 20 feet and, although certainly doable for those comfortable with scrambling or chimneying their way down, may be a bit too much for many. If this is the case, hike back out of the narrows and follow the obvious user path on the right side, staying above the slot canyon.The user trail fades a bit before a side canyon. A bit of minor scrambling is required, but you can use this side canyon to enter into the narrows, then hike back up to explore what you missed. This side canyon is also the exit point.Although the narrows are the highlight, if you have the time I'd recommend continuing down into scenic Hackberry Canyon.
