Loop
The Makiki Valley Loop is actually a combination of the Kanealole Trail, the Maunalaha Trail, and the Makiki Valley Trail. It is a little over three miles round trip. The east (right side from the trailhead) has a bit steeper pitch/climb to it. So you can adjust the direction of the loop depending on if you want a little more or less climb. The trail has enough pitch to get your heart rate up, but isn't so taxing that kids can't do it. There are some nice city views. There is a stream running through the middle. There are a couple waterfalls visible from the trail, but you have to look for them. There are also some scenic vegetation areas. Geocachers alert: There are about 20 geocaches hidden along this trail.
This trail is maintained by the State of Hawaii.
