You'd need a 4x4 to access this trail from the E Mesa Fire Road. Most folks take Lower Descanso Creek Trail to Upper Descanso Creek Trail and just rxh the last .5 miles of this trail to reach the summit.
Path Type
Point to Point
Starting off of E Mesa Fire Road, you find a well-marked trail. From here it meanders through some open fields spotted by stands of Live Oak. Look for deer as you make your way along the relatively flat section of the trail until it meets up with Upper Descanso Creek Trail at a little less than a mile. The trail slowly builds from here until you are making switchbacks on steep trail. The summit offer expansive views down to the ocean on a clear day.
