Academy

The Academy Trail starts off of Hawfield Rd. and WWC Parkway at the entrance to the overflow parking lot. The trail starts with a short climb followed by a half-mile descent and then crosses a creek over a huge wooden ladder bridge. The trail climbs for a half-mile to the back of the adjacent school property by the ball fields then sharply descends for one-tenth of a mile. The trail comes out to the clearing under the power lines and connects with the Carolina Thread Trail for one-tenth of a mile before branching off to the left and heading back up the hill under the power lines. The trail ascends for another six-tenths of a mile before a quick tenth of a mile descent that takes you back out to Hawfield Rd.
