Thurmont Vista Trail

The Thurmont Vista Trail is one of many in Catoctin Mountain Park that helps illustrate the point that regardless of how much human influence has altered the landscape in the last 200 years, the forest returns and flourishes beyond its previous extent. Starting at the Thurmont Vista Parking Area, follow the trail as it climbs gently, passing an intersection with the Blue Ridge Summit Trail before reaching the Thurmont Vista Overlook. From the overlook, enjoy stunning views of Catoctin Mountain Park and the town of Thurmont below. After leaving the overlook, continue following the trail as it climbs gently along a ridgeline on a mixed tread to a junction with the Wolf Rock / Chimney Rock Trail.
