Transept Trail

From the trail-head at Verde Valley School Road, begin a slow climb up to a ridge between verde Valley School road and the Village of Oak Creek. There are some fine views to either side as you cross the ridge. Keep heading upwards to a band of rock where the going gets a little steeper, ending in a final scramble to the top of a rock band. This short section is subjectively the most difficult spot on the trail depending on your abilities. Once on the rock band, the path skirts around the hillside on your right through varying gradients and widths, sometimes with a little exposure to your left. The trail is well marked and easy to follow with the occasional mountain bike that's usually descending the trail from in front of you. The trail ends where it intersects with the Hiline trail. From there either double back the way you came, or continue along Hiline in either direction.
