Harpeth Woods Trail

The Harpeth Woods Trail, located in Edwin Warner Park, is a popular and fun hike. Although not quite a loop in itself, a short segment of the Nature Loop Trail (blazed in yellow) is used to connect and complete the 2.4-mile hike. The trail contains a fair amount of elevation change and passes by an open meadow, traverses several hilltops, follows a stream for a while, and skirts past many small rocky outcroppings. Beech, oak, and cedar trees line the length of the trail, and an old rock quarry that was active in the 1930s and 1940s can even be found. A section of the Harpeth Woods Trail also follows the Natchez Trace - a historic forest trail that stretched about 450 miles from Natchez, Mississippi, to Nashville, Tennessee. The Harpeth Woods Trail is popular with everyone from trail runners to leisurely hikers. A few side trails are available and can be added making for a slightly longer loop. A visitors center with maps and brochures can also be found just a short drive from the trailhead.
