There and Back
The trailhead is located off of Flatwoods Road where there is a brown post with a blue circle and #49 at the edge of the road indicating the trailhead. The first half of the hike features a gradual incline through the open woods, and the second half of the trail is very, very steep and strenuous. The trail is marked with blue blazes all the way to the top. When the trail reaches the Holston Mountain Ridge, there will be a clearing with Flint Rock overlooking South Holston Lake with a 180deg view. This trail passes the Flatwoods Horse Trail and also connects to the Holston Mountain Trail at the top, making it easy to continue your journey.
This trail is located in Cherokee National Forest in the Watauga Ranger District.
