River View Trail

The River View Trail is a 2 mile trail in Pattison State Park in northern Wisconsin. As its name suggests, this trail takes hikers past the Black River and offers overlooks of the river. The trail runs through a dense hardwood forest. To get to this trail, one must use the Overlook Trail which makes this a 3.2-mile lollipop loop hike. Park at end of service road south of the campground or access to service road by going between sites 8 and 9 in the campground.Start this hike by heading east on the service road for about a tenth of a mile. Then head south on a very wide grassy and flat trail for about a half a mile, at the intersection continue south onto the River View Trail; the Overlook Trail heads to the west at this intersection.The River View trail is hilly and heavily wooded. After about a mile on the River View Trail you'll be able to see the Black River. An old logging camp is located on this section of the trail. After a few more overlooks of the river the trail heads away from the river. The River View Trail ends and becomes the Oak Ridge Trail. At this point take the connector trail to the right. After a tenth of a mile, the connector trail merges with the other end of the Oak Ridge Trail; continue heading northeast for another tenth of a mile. Here the Oak Ridge Trail ends and intersects with the north end of the River View Trail.
