Due to structural integrity issues, the Iron Bridge will remain closed indefinitely. Hikers can access trails from the Maple Grove Trailhead.

Loop
This moderate route begins at the Maple Grove Day Use Area off Bristoria Road and forms a circuit through the southern half of Ryerson Station State Park. From the parking area, start on Fox Feather Trail, then quickly turn right onto Lazear Trail. The trail climbs steadily as it heads south above Panther Lick Hollow, offering a mix of shaded walking and subtle views through the trees. After descending into Munnell Hollow, turn right onto Box Turtle Trail.
Box Turtle Trail heads north, roughly following the North Fork Dunkard Fork and passing Iron Bridge, a key landmark in the park’s trail system. Continue onto Iron Bridge Trail, then turn right on Fox Feather Trail to return to the starting point. Trail surfaces range from grassy tread to uneven, root-filled segments with occasional muddy areas, especially in wet seasons. While some sections lack clear blazes, the route is generally easy to follow and offers quiet, year-round hiking with opportunities for birding and wildlife observation.
