Description
Starting in the suburbs, you climb through grassland to the rounded peak of Mission Point, with 270-degree views of the city and nearby hills. The trail is straightforward fire road except for a short segment that has been blocked off for security of the adjacent gas field; there is a singletrack with switchbacks to the right that replaces it. There is little shade, so this is best as a winter, spring, or night hike. It makes an excellent night hike, especially under a full moon. Most will hike this to Mission Point, but the trail continues onto the junction with Sunshine Canyon Motorway.
