There and Back
This trail begins on an access road and continues about 1.4 miles to a small hydroelectric dam on McRoberts Creek. At this point, a singletrack trail begins to wind through vegetation and parallels McRoberts Creek for a while until reaching treeline around 2,500 ft. From here, climb through alpine tundra until reaching a large talus field that leads to the summit of Matanuska Peak. The end of this trail is extremely steep, and the talus slope presents a somewhat formidable obstacle. Use caution, and keep an eye out for cairns that mark the way.
