Description
This section of the CDT starts on a railroad grade that leads to the old Alpine Tunnel. When you get close to the tunnel, it starts to get steeper and more technical. The trail continues to wind through the high alpine for several miles. Near the end of the section, it drops down below tree line and follows some smooth switchbacks through the trees before finishing at a road crossing about 3 miles above the town of St. Elmo.
