There and Back
Hiking or biking from the Jewett Creek Watershed provides an adventure that can be enjoyed by all ages. Located on the outskirts of White Salmon, Washington, the trip could make for a mildly strenuous activity to be paired with a stop for lunch in White Salmon or Hood River. This is a meandering trail that begins with wooded, shaded hiking. After easy walking through the woods the trail begins to gain elevation and soon after breaks out of the heavily-treed area. There is still shade along the remainder of the trial, but less so than at the beginning. Also, once you have gained elevation and emerged from the dense trees youall be rewarded with a panoramic view that frames the White Salmon, the Columbia River Gorge, Hood River, and Mount Hood in the distance. The adventure is best on a clear day when you get the full impact of all these elements in view.
