Beginning at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center in Port Angeles, Peabody Creek Trail is a great introduction to the park. Start your hike at the visitor center to learn about the flora and fauna that can be found on the Olympic Peninsula. When youare ready to head out and explore, head for the trailhead at the western edge of the parking lot. The half-mile loop winds through old-growth forest, across a bridge, and occasionally under fallen trees. The trail is well maintained, which means you wonat trip as you gaze up at the treetops or study interesting flora as you walk. Keep an eye out for the many mushroom species that can be found even in winter. A spur trail splits off about halfway through the loop, providing a longer hike for those (without dogs) who want explore more. Peabody Creek Trail is one of the few within the Olympic National Park open to pets, so long as they are kept on a leash.
