Lawson and Gaskill Peaks

Starting from the parking lot, head up the Carveache Road Trail. Though this trail gains over a thousand feet in just under two miles it goes at a good consistent rise that isn't overly challenging. The trail dead ends at the Lawson Peak Trail.From here, push through the scrub oak and keep scrambling until you get to the platform right before the summit. Make a few challenging moves in the chimney and you can enjoy the views from the top. Head back down and turn left onto Forest Road 16S03. In little under a half mile, look for a faint trail heading up and left to access the Gaskill Peak Trail.The trail requires a bit of bushwacking but nothing too intense. The trail ascends powerfully at times but is interspersed with some easier sections. The last 30 feet or so to the summit requires some technical scrambling.Finally head back where you came from. The only really chance to get lost would be missing the turn at Carveache Road Trail. Just remember that it starts right across from the Lawson Peak Trail.
