Lower Bear

From the parking lot, immediately start hiking up hot, exposed singletrack. There are many switchbacks, but they're all easy to negotiate. Once you've gained the ridge you're greeted by a commanding vista of the entire valley. Contour around and descend a few hundred feet before hitting Elk Park Road. From here, you can take the road up to Elk Park, or head downhill all the way to Steamboat Springs.
