Along this trek, you will encounter lush meadows, alpine lakes, scenic ridgelines, and colorful wildflowers. The route begins at the High Meadows Trailhead in South Lake Tahoe, approximately one hour from Reno and approximately two hours from Sacramento, making it easily accessible for locals and residents of nearby cities. Follow the Tahoe Rim Trail south from Star Lake until you reach a saddle with a junction for the Freel Peak Trail. To reach the peak, follow the Freel Peak Trail for one mile. Enjoy panoramic views from the summit including Hope Valley and Mokelumne Wilderness to the south, Job's Sister and Job's Peak to the east, Monument Peak and Lake Tahoe to the north, and Pyramid Peak, Lake Tahoe, and the Desolation Wilderness to the west.
