The trail takes you along the rim of Seminole Canyon with breathtaking views along the way. Flanked by south Texas scrub brush, you'll discover remnants of native dwellings. At the southern end of the trail, you'll encounter Panther Cave where religious ceremonies were once performed. Looking off to the south, you'll see the Rio Grande and Mexico with mountains off in the distance. After the overlook, you join up with the Rio Grande Trail to hike back to the parking area. This trail is basically a service road.

This part of Texas has been in extreme drought for 5 years or more. And the vegetation is taking its toll, even most of the Aggaritia bushes are dead. Beautiful place when green but on my trip everything was brown. Hopefully this area gets som substantial rain soon. The canyon was mostly empty and where it dumps into the Rio Grande was just mud. See my photo compared to a different photo taken by someone else. The trail is easy, easy to navigate, and I enjoyed the evening.
