Head of Jack Creek

The Head of Jack Creek Trail takes hikers alongside the uppermost stretch of lovely Jack Creek before ending at the headwaters. This easy trail is wide and mostly flat, perfect for those looking for a short stroll or a good hike to do with young kids. To reach the trailhead, continue on Jack Lake Road until it crosses over Jack Creek, then take a left on forest road 1232. In a short distance take another left and enter Jack Creek Campground. Follow this road to the far end of the loop where you'll find a small trailhead and the start of the Head of Jack Creek Trail. From the campground the trail parallels the creek as it heads upstream. Although you'll get a view of the creek now and then, dense understory hides the creek from view for a lot of the hike. About 2/3 of the way up the trail you'll reach a junction with a bench. Continue straight (not right). The terrain becomes more forested and shady as you near the headwaters. You'll have lovely views of the creek as you come to the source, a rather anticlimactic small spring rushing out of the ground.After you've enjoyed your time at the head of Jack Creek, return back to the trailhead the way you came.
