Feather Creek Loops

From the trailhead, head east and cross the creek; the trails split immediately after crossing the creek and you are faced with three choices. To follow the route as mapped, turn left to head up the western most trail (Feather Creek Loop Trail - Outer) which follows Feather Creek for a little over a mile before the trail turns east and you climb up to meet the other trails on the ridge. The trail junctions with Feather Creek Loop Trail - Inner 2.5 miles into the hike. Here you could turn right and hike down to complete the smaller five mile loop, but to follow the mapped hike, turn left and continue north up the ridge to the top of Feather Creek Loop Trail - Outer. The descent off the top of the ridge down the eastern most section of the system is fun, well built, scenic and isolated. Big cedars, moss, and vine maples make up much of the vegetation down into the Laguna Creek drainage. After descending, the Feather Creek Loop Trail - Outer levels out along Laguna Creek and follows the creek back to the trailhead. Here you can continue back up to do another loop, or stop by the car for a lunch or beer.The hike here continues up the Feather Creek Loop Trail - Inner (the middle trail of the the three) to then descend the western extent of the Feather Creek Loop Trail - Outer.
