Description
The Camp Chase Trail has elements of both urban and rural trail as it carries visitors on the Ohio to Erie Trail from Columbus toward London. It is a paved, multi-use trail in South West Columbus and is part of both the Ohio to Erie Trail and US Bicycle Route 50. The trail is accessible from Downtown Columbus using the Scioto Greenway Trail and joining the Camp Chase Trail on N. Eureka Ave. The trail follows the Camp Chase Railway to the south and west and bisects Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park near the confluence of the Big and Little Darby Creeks. The Park features more than 7,000 acres of forest, prairies and wetlands. The park and trails stretch along 13 miles of the Big and Little Darby creeks, both State and National Scenic Rivers. In addition to the areas surrounding the creeks, there are also over 1,600 acres of restored wetlands and prairies. From the confluence of the Big and Little Darby Creek, follow the Darby Creek Greenway Trail to the north toward the Nature Center where you can find the bison which have been reintroduced to the park and roam freely within two enclosed pastures.
