Point to Point
The trailhead for Porcupine Creek is 24.8 miles from Crane Flat on Tioga Road. Parking is available at the Porcupine Flat parking area on the right. If you are coming from Tioga Pass, the trail is 14 miles west of Tuolumne Meadows.
The beginning of our trail starts 1.8 miles into the Porcupine Creek - North Dome route, where our trail breaks off to the right as it heads to the North Rim and amazing viewpoints at Yosemite Point and Yosemite Falls. When the trail breaks off to the right, it descends from the saddle and begins to follow Lehamite Creek for 1.6 miles until it hits the junction with the trail that follows the North Rim. Note: Lehamite Creek is seasonal, so it can dry up in the summer months, so make sure you bring plenty of water. You pass through lodgepole pine forest throughout this trip as the creek makes it's way toward the North Rim where the water goes over the edge at Lehamite Falls.
When you reach the end of the trail, you have two options. You can turn left and climb up to North Dome, although this is a longer, more circuitous route than the Porcupine Creek-North Dome Trail. If you continue toward Yosemite Falls, you'll follow the North Rim to Yosemite Point and Yosemite Falls, where stunning views of Yosemite Valley, the Lost Arrow, and the South Rim await you. To return to the valley floor, simply follow the Upper Yosemite Falls Trail as it descends to the Valley.
