Point to Point
Starting from the outer loop of the rough creek trail system, this trail starts when that loop/old forestry road hits a gate and there is a sign to the left that marks the beginning of the Cherry Cove Trail.
The trail enters the forest and is a soft and gentle singletrack meandering through the forest. In the spring, the trillium here are like nowhere else. Early summer, the blackberries are everywhere.
The trail is in two sections; the upper and the lower. The upper rolls up and down through the forest from the starting point mentioned. It goes for a little over a mile. The best view in this system is close to the end of this upper section as it hits a switchback turning to the right. To the left, at that switchback, you'll see a faint trail going to a rocky outcropping. This is an amazing place for a mid-run snack (it is almost all downhill from this point) and/or to simply enjoy the view.
After the switchback, the trail reconnects with the forestry road. Turn left and a quarter of a mile down (if that) the Cherry Cove Trail re-enters the forest. This "lower" section is a great downhill stretch of just around 1 mile in length. It is another perfect singletrack that drops through pristine eastern hardwood forest.
