Point to Point
The Paugusset Trail was built in the 1930's during the Great Depression by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, which today still maintains over 825 miles of blue-blazed trails in Connecticut. The trail can be done in either direction, with endpoints on Buddington Rd. in Shelton and the East Village in Monroe. There are many parking lots and access points along the way, so hiking just a section is also easy. Highlights include the Elklund Wildflower Garden (seasonal), Hope Lake, the Shelton Dog Park, Indian Well Falls, and views of the Housatonic River and Lake Zoar.
