Hoof 'n' Boot Trail

The Hoof 'N' Boot Trail is a nice steady ascent through the canyon. It has a remarkably smooth (non-rooty, non-rocky) trail surface with the only obstacles to avoid being scattered horse poop. This hiking/running and horse only trail is always within earshot of the surrounding bike trails, but at least you don't have to beware of descending bikers. Start the Hoof 'n' Boot Trail near where the Aqueduct Trail curves around a horse enclosure. The trail is well-signed as it initially intersects with bike trails. Don't be put off by a short steep section of eroded doubletrack road, this ends very soon. Pass a gate and duck back into the woods, following signs. The trail narrows and switchbacks through scrub oak and maple that turn pretty colors in fall. Cross over a dirt road, following signs towards a bridge on hiker's left. Pick up the Hoof 'n' Boot Trail again. As the trail climbs the hillside, the views improve. The switchbacks end for a time at viewpoint where you can see over Draper, the temple and far across the SLC valley. Continue to contour around the hill where the trail passes through a more open, grassy meadow. This pretty saddle area between the nearby hilltops affords the first views east towards the Ghost Falls area. After another series of wooded switchbacks, you cross more mountain bike trails and the Draper Alpine Road (Upper Corner Canyon Road). A new section of Hoof 'n' Boot continues uphill from here, with tight switchbacks through more scrub oak. The trail ends at a "T" intersection with the Peak View (Lower) Trail. From here, you can turn right and end at the Peak View Trailhead area (as of fall 2018 this trailhead was not accessible to cars, it is still under construction).
