Description
From the parking area, follow the trail east to cross the street on the marked crosswalk. Once on the dirt, the trail immediately begins to climb in earnest as you make your way to the top. Along the way, be sure to take necessary breaks and enjoy the views. Once on top, follow the rim as it makes a 4 mile loop to feature gorgeous views of the lake. It's important to note that there is no shade up here, so this trail is only suitable for hiking in the shoulder seasons. A summer hike here would be beyond brutal. When you've fully enjoyed the views from the rim, follow the trail as it makes a right to cut across the southern part of the cliff to rejoin the trail from before. Descend the switchbacks back to the main road and cross to reach your car and the nearby campground.
