This trail starts on private timber property and the road is sometimes gated 2.5 miles before the trailhead, requiring an additional 5 miles of rxhing round-trip
Path Type
Point to Point
This trail switchbacks steeply to the ridge, then gradually follows the ridgeline to the Wilderness boundary where the tread becomes rough and steep. Beyond the Wilderness boundary are views of Mt. Constance, The Brothers, Hood Canal and Jupiter Lakes. There are panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound from the summit of Mt Jupiter. The best views of Mt. Rainier, Adams, and St. Helens are seen on the return hike. Note: routes to Jupiter Lakes are not formally established and hikers must scramble down from the ridge 900 feet in elevation to reach the lakes.
