The Homestead trail is challenging because the blazes are very faded and there are lots of fallen branches along the trail. The trail begins off of the Bald Knob gravel road with the option to connect to the Moonstomper Trail near the start. The trail is mostly wooded with some views when the trail crosses a powerline corridor. The trail ends near the Bald Knob outlook and hikers can connect to the Cliff Trail or the Bald Knob gravel road.
