Possum Trail

From the parking lot, the trail runs along what I assume to be an old gravel service road. Along the road are signs indicating the different flora and fauna that are predominate in the different habitats. After a half mile, you hit a gravel road where you turn left. Watch right where the trail continues. Continue along heading toward the river until you hit the slightly raised section the follows the old Dummyline Railroad. As you go along you encounter the different pine forests and changing environments. Soon you begin to get to the swampy land of the Bogue Homa (a sort of natural bayou that feeds into the Pearl River). After a while, the trail becomes a raised boardwalk and you wander amongst the various wetland plants. Cross over the Bogue Homa on a bridge that features a canoe launch and a nice overlook. Continue on the boardwalk and you pop out onto another road that dead ends on the Pearl River. Head left up the road to the historic site of Logtown, which formerly was one of the largest logging operations in the world. Note: Apparently there are tram tours on the trail.
