From the trailhead at the southern end of Causey Reservoir, this trail gradually ascends, paralleling the shore of the reservoir. The trail quickly gains access to great views of the reservoir, as well as the surrounding mountains.
As the trail turns a corner and heads to the east, it starts to gain most of its actual elevation and quickly allows for some great views of the cliffs on the opposite side of the reservoir. The trail weaves in and out of several drainages, going past beautiful wild flowers (during the right season) and eventually drops down to where the Right Fork South Fork of the Ogden River runs into Causey Reservoir.
This is one of the best trails for getting good views of the most beautiful parts of Causey Reservoir, and you can usually see lots of kayakers and cliff jumpers in the water as you go along this beautiful trail.
