Description
This alternative start to the Lusardi Loop drops quickly before approaching Lusardi Creek on level trail. This route is easier than the Lusardi Creek Loop Trail because it avoids some up and down and zigzagging but at the cost of hiking closer to the encroaching development. For a modest hike, this trail can be combined into a 3.6-mile loop by returning on the first section of the Lusardi Loop where the two trails meet southeast of Camino Del Sur. As with the other trails near Black Mountain, the best hiking is roughly February to the end of April when the area is in bloom. The rest of the year it is hot and dry, brown fading to grey.
