Mount Baden Powell via Islip Saddle follows a 15.8-mile singletrack trail to the summit of Mount Baden Powell. This challenging route includes sweet-smelling pine trees, expansive views, and multiple opportunities for peak bagging. On weekends, the route to Mount Baden-Powell can get busy, but it is still possible to find peaceful solitude during the week. This area is popular for trail running, peak bagging, hiking, and backpacking. Located in the Angeles National Forest, Mount Baden-Powell rises to a height of 9,407 feet, making it one of the highest peaks in the San Gabriel Mountain Range. Starting from the Islip Saddle parking area, the trail follows the well-marked and well-maintained Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). During the trail's ascent to the summit, the terrain alternates between short steep sections and relatively well-graded sections.Water is available year-round at Little Jimmy Spring, located about two miles from Islip Saddle (all water must be treated prior to use). It is open year-round, however, a heavy snow year may cause the trail to remain covered in snow well into the spring.MOUNT BADEN POWELL FACTS16th highest peak in Southern California.Named after Lord Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the boy scouts.
