Description
The Hollister Trail begins as it diverges from the Overlook Fire Road in Gaviota State Park, slightly north of where the Beach to Backcountry Trail comes to an end along the fire road. The Hollister Trail begins by climbing to the west before turning toward the north. From here, the trail follows a ridge line, which offers good views of the coastline to the south and Hollister Ranch. After 3/4 of a mile of being on the Hollister Trail you'll come to a juncture with the Woodland Trail. Continue straight along the Hollister Trail to the north. Eventually you'll reach another trail junction that connects the Yucca Trail and Las Cruces Trail. You can continue straight, bearing to the left, to follow the Hollister Trail for another 1/4 mile. At this point you'll reach a viewpoint and the trail continue slightly to the west before ending at the Gaviota State Park boundary. You can return to the Overlook Fire Road the same way you came or link up with other trails in the area. Thanks to John McKinney, The Trailmaster, for sharing this trail description.
