Description
Uphill: If you're coming from Woodside Road, park at the lot by the Carriage House, or on the shoulder of Woodside Road if the lot is full (which can happen on nice afternoons). Head uphill past the porta-potty and look for the wide, flat trail on your left, heading past the stables next to Woodside Road. Downhill: If you're connecting to this trail from its high point at Skyline Blvd, you'll enter the park on foot or from nearby parking along Skyline Blvd. Starting uphill from Woodside Road, take the leftmost trail which quickly enters the forest and begins to climb. You'll pass several trail junctions on the right in the first few miles, which can be used to make shorter loops back to the parking lot. At about 2.8 miles, you'll reach some benches at an area known as The Crossroads. From here, take the right-most trail to continue on Alambique. This trail winds its way gradually uphill along the side of a canyon, with a few nice views of the bay on the right. When you reach the power lines, you're close to Skyline Blvd and the top of Alambique Trail. From here, there are several great options. You can turn left and head back down through Wunderlich on Skyline Trail for a 10-mile loop. If you're in the mood for something longer, the Bay Area Ridge Trail on the right leads to Huddart Park, or you can cross Skyline Blvd and head into the extensive trail network of El Corte de Madera.
