Description
From the junction with Overlook Cliff Trail, the trail proceeds north and ascends steeply on an old military road to the crest of Maryland Heights at the site of a Civil War encampment and fortification earthworks. The trail then doubles back south on a singletrack path past more Civil War era ruins with a few decent views to the east over the Potomac River Valley before descending back to a second junction with the Overlook Cliff Trail.
