Lac Beauvert Loop

The Lac Beauvert Loop can be done in either direction. Follow the Lac Beauvert Loop signs and yellow diamonds with #4a on them. From the parking area, after admiring the view of the northwestern end of the Colin Range in the distance, across the beautiful blue-green Lac Beauvert, go to the lakeshore to find the dirt path that runs along the shore--this is the trail. Go right for a counter-clockwise loop hike as described here. Heading basically east, the trail runs next to the lake, through woods, towards the golf course. The golf course is reached after about 0.25 miles. Carefully follow the hiker, Lac Beauvert Loop, and yellow diamond #4a signs as they direct you onto a road to go through the golf course. At about the 0.5-mile mark, watch for the signs that point to the left to go back on dirt trail that heads back to the lake. Back along the lake, the trail heads north with the lake and views across the lake of Pyramid Mountain. At about the 0.7-mile mark, the trail reaches the first cabins of Jasper Park Lodge, a historical hotel/lodge resort that was established in 1922. Here the trail turns west, continuing to follow the lake's shoreline. The Jasper Park Lodge main buildings, their front lawns, the boat dock, and more cabins are passed. Mount Edith Cavell can be seen across the lake, in the far distance to the south. Leaving Jasper Park Lodge behind at about the 1.2-mile mark, the Lac Beauvert Loop once again runs through woods along the lake. After curving around, the trail finally runs south at the 1.6-mile mark. The clear Lac Beauvert outlet creek is crossed on a sturdy bridge. Because Lac Beauvert is spring fed, its waters are clear, as opposed to silty which is more common in these mountains. Continuing through the woods along the lake, the trail returns to the parking area to end after 2.4 miles.
