Prairie Wolf Forest Preserve Trail

This preserve features a 20-acre wetland, wet prairie and adjacent oak woodlands, a 1.75-mile trail for hiking, bicycling, and cross-country skiing, and a 1-mile self-guided nature trail. Please keep dogs leashed and on trails at all times, and pick up after them. The Prairie Wolf Dog Park is also located here, with a separate entrance on Waukegan Road. An annual or daily permit and a dog are required for entry. In the early 1970s, the Lake County Forest Preserves moved to save 150 acres of land north of Old Mill Road. Additional land was purchased between 1976 and 1979.
