Finding the trail can be tricky. Park at the small pullout just before the Chief Mountain Hwy goes over Lee Creek. Climb over the guardrail and descend under the bridge, and you'll find a slight path. This trail becomes more pronounced once you are on the level bench above the creek.
Follow the creek through the forest and small meadows that line the creek. Bank erosion has encroached upon the path which eventually comes down to the creek for an obvious fording which can be treacherous in the spring. Once across the creek, follow the path through more meadows and patches of trees to the patrol cabin.
