Lake Eleanor

From the intersection with the Northern Loop Trail, make your way northeast along the edge of Grand Park. Spectacular views of Rainier can be had here. If this huge, flat, wildflower-covered meadow doesn't give you the "hills are alive" feeling, nothing will! After about 1.5 miles of pure enjoyment, leave the meadow and descend steeply through the trees. Things level out again and soon you pop out of the forest and enter a smaller meadow with a pond. More shady hiking before reaching the Lake Eleanor camp and finally the lake itself. This small lake is ringed by trees and has a small peninsula protruding from the western shore. Either retrace your steps or complete the Lake Eleanor Trail by roughly paralleling Eleanor Creek to the northeast and ending at fire road 7360.
