Description
Lower Ammonoosuc Falls in Carroll NH is found along Rt. 302 just past the entrance to Zealand camping and trails area. You can't miss the big parking lot on the right. That is the entrance and the trail ends by Cherry Valley Road one mile from Fabyan's Station Restaurant. This is a beautiful set of waterfalls for anyone looking for a dramatic cascading style waterfall that has moderate water flow. Lower Ammonoosuc Falls is a fast moving cascading falls surrounded by rocks. The falls form into a large pool that is very deep with clear water. The estimated depth of the pool is 15' in normal weather. It's a popular fishing and swimming spot in the summer time when the water runs a little bit lower!
History & Background
The water that comes through these falls originated from lakes of the clouds (also a fantastic hike). These falls have been used as the destination for small weddings and are often used for wedding photographs.
