Start from the parking lot and hike toward the Nature Center, then cross the bridge and turn right onto the red-blazed Loggers Trail. Turn right at the following T-intersection. In mid-July, keep your eyes peeled for a bunch of wild red berries growing just a few feet from the intersection. In less than a quarter mile, you'll cross a path over a gas pipeline to find the Shortcut Trail.Turn right onto the white-blazed Shortcut Trail. After only a few minutes, the trail converges with the yellow-blazed Ivy Hill Trail. Follow the Ivy Hill Trail for less than a quarter mile before crossing another pipeline path and descending the hill to hit a junction with the S. James Campbell Trail. Take a left and hike up to the hill to see a small pond, take a water/snack break, and enjoy the pleasant view. When you're ready to continue on, head back on the trail to the junction and take a left onto the S. James Campbell Trail. This yellow-blazed trail will cross Baisman Run four times as it ascends a hill for less than a mile or so.After eventually crossing another pipeline path, bear right onto the Loggers Trail at the following junction. The old ski slope will be on your right, which affords beautiful views of the Hunt Valley. Now descending a hill, continue hiking along the Logger Trail to cross another pipeline path and reach a large junction. At the junction, look for the orange-blazed Lake Trail. Follow the orange-blazed trail to cross a bridge and head uphill, with the lake on your right side, to end near the parking lot where you started.
